Presentation of the building

Adhering by its glass facades, with the RTS tower renovated in 2010 and by its template and alignment, with the buildings of the alley, the new construction made by the RTS is a beautiful architectural achievement. After having given part of the building to the University of Geneva in 2015, RTS moved the entire sports department into the second part in 2016. Nevertheless, from the outside, the separation does not stand out thanks to a glass screen that unifies the whole. A pixelation effect that reveals writings in Braille has been designed on the façade. An energy concept was studied. The four internal patios are part of it and bring an interesting light flow. The lighting is economical, and fully equipped with presence detectors. Even the emergency staircase, often a neglected part of a building, is in a class of its own, carinated between metal and light tubes.

Emergency lighting concept

The emergency lighting system in this building is based on energy cabinets. Eight of them were positioned in the UNIGE part and eight in the RTS part, across the floors. These energy cabinets connect approximately 200 lighting flags distributed throughout the building as well as 80 spotlights on the University side and more than 150 on the RTS side. For this construction, all spotlights are recessed. Also 130 luminaires with directional arrows were installed. In addition, a smaller number of other installations were installed to meet current standards, such as portable lamps or an adaptation of the lighting in the disabled toilets. All the lights supplied are based on LED technology. This allows us to offer long-lasting and energy-efficient installations, in line with the expectations of our time and the desire to provide environmentally friendly installations.
